Volleyball Rallies to Defeat OU-Chillicothe in Five Games

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - OCU Volleyball (1-1) enjoyed their home opener on Wednesday night in front of a packed house and delivered big for their fans.  

After winning the first game 25-20, the Blazers began to struggle.  The visitors from OU-Chillicothe put together a two game rally to steal the momentum.  The visiting Hilltoppers won game two in dominating fashion by a score of 25-12.  OU-C then took a 2-1 advantage, after winning game three by a score of 25-21.

The Blazers came out in game four determined and focused.  With the support of an enuthisiastic student section, the Blazers stormed back.  With the game getting close down the stretch, OCU called timeout and then executed a sensational set play to take a 3 point lead.  The Blazers then pulled away to take game four by a score of 25-20.

Game five was tied at 7-7 before back to back kills by Olivia Davis (Grove City, OH) and Danielle Wipert (Circleville, OH) gave the Blazers the advantage.  After taking a 9-7 lead, Ohio Christian put the game away down the stretch, winning 15-10.

Mary Ashbaucher had a big game with a game high 41 assists.  Danielle Wipert and Olivia Davis each had a dozen kills on the night.  Abby Ashbaucher led the OCU frontline defense with 3 blocks along with 11 kills in the contest.  Rachel Briggs added 10 kills in a winning effort.
