Volleyball Reels Off Three Straight Wins in Tennessee
KNOXVILLE, TN - The OCU Women's Volleyball team is sitting at 10-4 on the season after a trifecta of big wins over the weekend in Tennessee. The Trailblazers have bounced back from their first Mid-East Region loss of the season last Tuesday in impressive form, reeling off three road wins against Crown College, Johnson University, and Toccoa Falls college in 24 hours.
Head Coach Dave Hopewell has his team playing their best volleyball of the season so far. "I am whole heartedly proud of the team after this weekend. Coming home from a long weekend with three wins is not easy task."
Hopewell credited the physical conditioning and mental focus of his team as the biggest factors in winning this weekend. "We played nine strait games on Saturday and pushed through the mental and physical fatigue to win both matches, We were able to expose our opponents weaknesses, and spread our offense to bring home the wins."
After defeating region rivals Johnson University and Crown College (TN) both in four games, the Blazers met South Region member Toccoa Falls College from Georgia. After winning the first game, the Blazers lost in back to back games to trail 2-1. OCU stormed back to win game 4 by a score of 25-16 to force a winnter take all game 5. Ohio left no doubt in the final frame, winning 15-4 to win the match in five games.
The Trailblazers are back in action on October 4th when they host OU-Lancaster in a 6:00 PM match. OCU won the first match with the Cougars 3-0 in early September.
