Ohio Christian University to Host Free Emergency Disaster Services Training

The Disaster Management and Relief program at Ohio Christian University will be offering a free Introduction to Disaster Services course several times in the coming few months in conjunction with The Salvation Army’s,  Emergency Disaster Services.  OCU Disaster Management and Relief program director Thad Hicks served with The Salvation Army for a number of years and will be conducting the training.    

This 4 hour course is designed for those new to the disaster field or has a limited amount of disaster experience.  The course will cover everything from getting yourself ready for an emergency, to disaster response and recovery.  OCU’s program director Thad Hicks stated, “This course is aimed at individuals wishing to serve with The Salvation Army, but its materials move well beyond a single organization, and are really applicable for any group wanting to serve their community through relief work.” 

The training is open to the public and being held April 26 on the campus of Ohio Christian University.  The training is being conducted in room 202 of the Maxwell Library from 5:30pm – 9:30pm.  In addition to the April date, another Introduction to Disaster Services training will be given on November 19th at the same location and times.
