Lady Blazers Fall to Asbury

The Lady Trailblazers traveled to Wilmore, Kentucky on Friday to face Asbury University (an NAIA DII school).  The Eagles jumped out to an early 19 point lead in the first ten minutes of the game, shooting 54% in the first half, but the OCU women were able to fight back and cut the lead to 8 by the half (32-40).  The Lady Blazers forced more turnovers, and totaled more steals and assists than the Eagles, but they weren't able to overcome Asbury's hot shooting and the advantage Asbury had in free throw attempts.  After cutting the lead to 65-66 with five minutes remaining in the game, Asbury knocked down several late free throws to seal their victory 90-76.

Sophomore guard Shelby Roe led the Lady Blazers with 19 points, on 8 of 13 shooting.  Freshman guard Kaity Wyeth chipped in 17 points and dished out 4 assists.  Senior Danielle Fleming was the only other Blazer in double-figures with 13 points.  Senior forward Angela Thorne finished with 7 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Blazers are now 11-3 overall.  They will face Alice Lloyd College (NAIA) on Monday in their last game before Christmas break and the new year.
