Lady Blazers Remain Undefeated at Home
The OCU women's basketball team kept their home game winning streak alive on Saturday as they defeated Southern State Community College 121-59. The win was the 17th straight at home for the Lady Blazers, who came out firing and jumped to a 41-8 lead and never looked back. All fifteen of the Lady Trailblazers scored in the game, including five players in double figures. Freshman point guard Chelsea Black led OCU wth 18 points on 8 of 12 shooting, and she dished out 3 assists. Fellow freshman Kaity Wyeth added 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting, dished out 3 assists, and totaled 4 steals. Kendra Blair, a freshman forward, chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals, while senior forward Danielle Fleming added 13 points and 6 steals. Sophomore guard Shelby Roe was the fifth Lady Blazer in double figures with 12 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals.
Head Coach Mandy Wray said, "This was a great team effort. We were very disappointed with our effort after Thursday's loss on the road, and it was good to get back on our home court and take care of business."
The Lady Trailblazers advanced to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the OCAC (Ohio Collegiate Athletic Conference). They travel to Clark State Community College on Monday for another OCAC match-up.
