Lady Trailblazers Win Christmas Tournament
The OCU women's basketball team remained undefeated against NCCAA opponents this weekend, defeating Kuyper College 83-54 and Grace Bible College 102-72. On Friday, senior forward Danielle Fleming led the Blazers with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 steals (just two shy of a triple double). Freshman Kaity Wyeth added 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals, while sophomore guard Shelby Roe chipped in 10 points. The win advanced the Lady Blazers to the Championship game on Saturday, in which they faced the host Grace Bible College.
After a slow start, the Lady Blazers were able to use a late first half run to take a 45-30 lead at half-time. OCU had to overcome foul trouble throughout the game and showed its depth, as the Lady Trailblazers bench outscored Grace Bible's bench 58-11. Freshman guard Kaity Wyeth finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow freshman Gretchen Meyer had a double-double as well with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
OCU advanced to 11-2 overall, including 8-0 against NCCAA teams. The Lady Blazers will travel to OU-Chillicothe on Thursday for their next game.
