Lady Trailblazers Win Two More
The OCU women's basketball team picked up two more wins this week, over OU-Chillicothe and Clark State Community College. On Thursday night, the Lady Trailblazers travelled to Chillicothe for their first game back after the holiday break. They jumped out to a 59-30 lead at the half and never looked back, winning by a final score of 103-69. Freshman guard Kaity Wyeth led the Lady Blazers with 34 points, while sophomore Shelby Roe added 13 points, and senior forward Danielle Fleming chipped in 12 points. Freshman Chelsea Black was the fourth Lady Blazer in double-digits with 10 points.
On Friday night, the OCU women defeated OCAC conference foe Clark State Community College 92-55. Senior Danielle Fleming led the Lady Blazers with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, while senior Angela Thorne pulled down 10 rebounds as well. Sophomore guard SHelby Roe added 14 points, and freshman post Sharonda Jones chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Sophomore point guard led the Lady Trailblazer defensive attack, finishing the game with 8 steals.
The OCU women advanced to 13-4 overall, including 4-1 in the OCAC, and continue to hold the #1 ranking in the NCCAA Division II Women's Basketball National poll. The Lady Blazers have three home games this week as they host OU-Chillicothe (Monday), OSU-Newark (Thursday), and Mary Grove College (Saturday).
