Women's Soccer Unveils 2011 Season Schedule
CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The OCU Athletic Department has just released the 2011 women's soccer schedule for the upcoming season. The Blazers look to improve on last year when they reached the regional championship game for 2nd consecutive season.
The schedule this year will ensure that the women's soccer program is battle tested as they will take on a total of 10 programs with NCAA or NAIA affiliation.
"This young program will be put to the test this season," said head coach Josh Murton. "We play four NCAA Div II or III schools and six NAIA games. We will continue to see a tough region schedule with Johnson University and Kentucky Christian in hopes for our first trip to the NCCAA national tournament."
The non-conference schedule features matchups with NAIA affiliates St. Catharine College, Berea College, Pikeville College, Shawnee State University, and Cincinnati Christian University. The Blazers will also be taking on NCAA Division III members Muskingum College, Bluffton University, and Anderson University. The non-conference schedule is rounded out with a matchup against NCAA Division II member Oakland City University.
Within the Mid-East region, longtime rivals Johnson University and Kentucky Christian University will once again prove to be legitimate contenders. All three schools will look to contend for the Mid-East Region title and the automatic bid to the NCCAA National Championship Tournament.
