OCU Softball Players of the Week
Following outstanding performances in the first two games of the Trailblazer softball season, freshmen MacKenna Jennings and PaLaura Parker have been selected by Head Coach Emory Clark as the OCU Softball Co-players of the week. "Both of these young ladies came out in our first two games and showed why they were two of our top recruits last year," said Coach Clark.
MacKenna Jennings, the Trailblazers freshman pitcher, set a new team record for most strikeouts in a single game by striking out eight of UC-Clermont's batters in the first game of the year. Jennings would finish the day with a total of 13 strikeouts while only giving up eight bases on balls. Jennings would also finish with a few national rankings according to the National Christian College Athletic Association rankings for March 13-20, 2011. Jennings performance placed the Trailblazers at number 4 in the team rankings for strikeouts per game. That same performance earned Jennings a second place individual ranking in the same category.
Offensively, the Trailblazers finished the week ranked first for triples per game. That charge was led by freshman shortstop PaLaura Parker. Parker finished first in triples per game, third in doubles per game, and seventh in runs per game. "PaLaura scored the first run of the year for us," said Coach Clark. "She finished the day with 3 for 6 and scored three of our first six runs of the year."
Congratulations to both of these players.
