OCU Volleyball Team 2010 Trailblazer Classic Runners-up

Ohio Christian University continued their winning ways into the tournament part of the 2010 Trailblazer Classic. Central Bible defeated Shawnee Baptist to advance to the semifinal match versus Ohio Christian.

The Ohio Christian University Trailblazers pulled out a four set win over the Central Bible College Spartans 25-21, 22-25, 25-13, 25-20.

Sophomore Linette Shetler tallied 12 kills and 3 blocks and Freshmen Tiffany Mosher had 14 digs.

"The team played hard and ran a solid offense," said Coach Brothers. "We had a balanced attack and this kept CBC on their heels most of the match."

The win versus CBC gave Coach Wes Brothers his 50th career win in 4 seasons as head coach. According to OCU Athletics, the next best wins recorded by a Head Women's Volleyball Coach is 32 by Coach Jake Lee in 4 seasons.

The win set the Trailblazers up to face the Scarlet Wave of OSU-Marion in the championship match. The Scarlet Wave's up tempo attack was too much for the Trailblazers who provided a good effort in the match. OCU Volleyball dropped 3 sets to OSU-Marion with scores of 19-25, 15-25, 21-25.

Shetler and Freshmen Ashley Southard combined for 15 kills. Mosher earned 12 digs with Shetler and Southard close behind with 10 a piece.

"We have a young team this year and the challenge is to get better with each rep in practice and each set. I saw this in the tournament," stated Coach Wes Brothers. "We played OSU-Marion last week and OCU came out better, stronger and more focused tonight. The team is working on making the little things better so we can continue to see improvements as we go through this season."

Ohio Christian University Women's volleyball has an overall record of 7-6.

Ohio Christian Volleyball's next home match is Wednesday, September 29th at 6 pm versus OCAC opponent Clark State Community College.
