BIOGRAPHY
A native of rural south-eastern Ohio, Steve grew up in a working-class community, a descendant of coal miners, mechanics, and factory workers. He is married to Rose, also an OCU graduate. They have 3 adult children. He has spent 25 years of his ministry career at OCU, most as a faculty member and a few years in administration. He has also been in pastoral ministry for almost 30 years.
A moment of profound spiritual clarity came during his junior year at Circleville Bible College, while doing an assignment for Greek Exegesis class. He was often discouraged over performing less than the most ideal of Christian virtues. He would descend into doubt and conclude that he was not a Christian after-all. The serious in-depth study of Galatians 2 led him to the biblical clarity he needed. For the first time, genuine faith -- or complete confidence in Christ's saving action -- rather than his own performance -- became the bedrock of his Christian life. This was transforming and liberating, setting a new course for life, study, and ministry.
