
Dr. Ronald E. Smith, PhD
President of Ohio Christian University
12th President of Ohio Christian University Circleville, Ohio has a passion and burden for mentoring Christian higher education students. He is regularly seen around campus talking with students, investing in their lives, and extending great care for their needs.
Dr. Smith has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Asbury University and a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, a Master of Theology degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and Master’s in Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degree from Casperson School of Graduate Studies, Drew University.
Dr. Smith has served the local church in various pastoral roles and is known throughout the Wesleyan Arminian churches as a renowned speaker and lecturer who boldly shares the message of Christ’s redeeming love wherever life finds him – around the corner or around the globe.
Since 1982, he has been an ordained deacon and elder in the Greater New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist Church. Most recently, Smith served as President of the Francis Asbury Society (two separate terms) as well as filling various roles within the organization over a span of two decades. In 1998 he was elected to serve as the fifth president of Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, MS, where he served for thirteen years.
He has published numerous articles for professional and education organizations with the most recent being “Henry Clay Morrison: Remember the Old Paths” based on Smith’s doctoral research at Drew University. On a personal note, his wife, Dorena, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandson James and granddaughter Haley Jane are some of his biggest cheerleaders! He enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing and PEOPLE.
