In the effort to keep members of the Ohio Christian University community apprised of campus safety-related news and events, the Office of Emergency Management and Campus Security uses multiple systems, including Rave Alert, an emergency mass notification system. Users can sign up to receive text message and email safety alert information that may affect the OCU campuses and nearby areas depending upon the nature of an emergency or event. The department also sends Clery notifications via email to current Ohio Christian University students and employees. Those emails include notices, which provide advisory information about a low-risk situation, or an OCU Safety Alert, which provides timely information about an ongoing situation. Some emergency notifications are also published on Public Safety's Twitter account @OhioChristian. In addition, those who use Facebook or other social media site can receive safety notifications through there as well.

The university's emergency plans and emergency procedures are available online. Ohio Christian University students, faculty and staff should all be enrolled in Rave Alert. Those outside of the university, including parents of current students, can also sign up per the directions noted below.

In the event of an emergency, OCU will utilize several tools to communicate with the members of our community in a quick and coordinated manner.:
