AGS Students Participate in Leadership Forum

Ohio Christian University’s 9th Annual Leadership Forum with guests Dr. John Maxwell, Dr. Ben Carson, and Sen. Rick Santorum was a wonderful success. But the event was especially memorable for 130 students and faculty from the College of Adult and Graduate Studies (AGS) who were able to participate from various locations throughout Ohio and the country. Faculty member Dr. Andrew Graham, who teaches Substance Abuse Counseling online, visited from Florida, and Dr. Shawn Thomas, Director of Operations for the Morrow, Georgia campus, also was on hand.

After the main event, AGS students and faculty gathered to talk and network in a session facilitated by Dr. Deb Grimm, Director of Business Programs. In breakout groups led by the first MBA graduating class, they reflected on the speakers’ comments and their own personal learning through the event. One group summarized, “Don’t fear, move past your failures, make small changes, and start today!” Another group commented that they wanted to “do something to make a difference every day” like these speakers had advocated.

Online student Valarie Garvin drove nearly two hours to participate. She is working on her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Leadership and Ministry. Through the evening, she felt God was communicating that she could hold onto “the hope that God is faithful.” She followed up, “I learned and gleaned so much. Thank you for the Leadership Forum!”
