This program prepares vocal pedagogy students to develop singers in a variety of vocal styles, including classical, contemporary Christian and music theater. It is designed with the worship or music major in mind as preparation for contributing to a local community, and congregation.

    Introduction to the philosophies and concepts of Music Education.

    Brief review of ecology, biological chemistry, cellular structure and function, structure and physiological function of body systems, reproduction and development, genetics and disease.   •  
    Violin pedagogy and techniques specific to the repertoire of Books 6 and 7, with supplementary material and technical exercises, and application to supervised teaching.
    Prerequisite: MU221

    Violin pedagogy and techniques specific to the repertoire of Book 8, with exploration of supplementary material relating to the development of a well-rounded performer, and application through supervised teaching.
    Prerequisite: MU221

    Music for use in the vocal studio, emphasizing classical art song and music theater repertoire, and the use of this literature along with contemporary Christian song for pedagogy and artistic development. Familiarity with appropriate vocal repertoire for various styles and voice types. Aesthetic understanding and coaching techniques for these genres through discussion, analysis, guided listening, and performance.
