Dr. John Anthony
Dr. John Anthony has been the Department Chair of the Music Department of Ohio Christian University for the past five years. Under his leadership, the Music Department acheived accreditation for its Music Education Degree through TEAC in 2009. On his coming to Ohio Christian University in 2006, Dr. Anthony initiated the instrumental music program at the universtiy that has grown to include instruction on woodwinds, brass, percussion and strings. In 2011 he founded the University Concert Band and is seeking to establish a University Orchestra during the 2012-2013 school year.
Dr. Anthony is also an active performer. As a soloist, he has performed recitals on the universtiy campus, as well as in churches and recital halls in Ohio and Pennsylvania. He has premiered and recorded orginal compositions for trumpet and organ by contemporary composers Emma Lou Deamer and David Schubach. Dr. Anthony has also performed with prestigious ensembles such as the Columbus Symphony, the ProMusica Orchestra and the Ohio Capital Winds. This past spring, he performed, with other selected members from the Ohio Capital Winds, on the newest solo recording by New York Philharmonic principal trumpeter Phil Smith.
