Ohio Christian University hosted its 10th annual Leadership Forum on April 19, 2016, in the Maxwell Center on its Circleville campus featuring speakers: leadership expert, Dr. John Maxwell; NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback, Jim Kelly; and special guest Senator David Perdue. More than 1300 people gathered for the main event, and hundreds more participated in smaller sessions throughout the day.
When asked about the impact of events like Leadership Forum, John Maxwell said, "Developing quality, Christian leaders is the only way to ensure that the future is better than today."
Senator Purdue spoke to the value of Christian higher education saying, "Christian higher education allows students to be challenged academically, while having the foundation of strong values and ethics that make for excellent leaders."
The annual leadership forum is an increasingly popular event that facilitates the professional development of those currently in executive leadership roles or who aspire to be effective leaders. Proceeds from the event support the Ohio Christian University Scholarship Program.
“The focus of the entire forum is to enhance one’s leadership and abilities,” said Craig Brown, special assistant to the president of OCU.
Brown believes the profiles of this year’s speakers demonstrates leadership experience that is harmonious with the ideas and mission of OCU.
Dr. John Maxwell, a graduate of OCU, is a New York Times best-selling author, business coach, and speaker. In 2014 he was named the #1 leader in business by the American Management Association® and the most influential leadership expert in the world by Business Insider and Inc. magazines.
Jim Kelly played quarterback for the Buffalo Bills for 11 seasons and led the team to four consecutive Super Bowls. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
Special guest David Perdue (R) is the junior United States Senator from Georgia. He has more than 40 years of business experience as the former CEO of Reebok athletic brand and Dollar General.
Dr. Benny Tate of Rock Springs Church in Milner, GA, and Dr. Stan Toler, OCU alumnus, best-selling author and founding executive director of Southern Nazarene University’s Center for Pastoral Leadership were the featured speakers for the Pastoral Seminar.
