CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The Ohio Christian University Men's Soccer program is set to begin a new era in the Fall of 2020, as newly announced head coach George Arroyo will take over the team for his first season.
Coming off a 2019 campaign in which the Trailblazers made the conference tournament, Arroyo is confident the team is ready to improve and move up within the RSC. "I think I speak for everyone in saying we're excited about the upcoming schedule. Except for one, we faced each of these teams last season, so it gives us an opportunity to gauge our improvement in many areas. We play in a tough conference against quality players and coaches, but we want to make our mark. We want to move up in the rankings and I believe this is the year to do so!"
The squad is scheduled to open play on September 2nd on the road at Shawnee State University. The familiarity of the team's non-conference schedule, as mentioned above, will allow for an early gauge on the team's standing entering conference play.
Following the non-conference slate, OCU will open River States Conference play on September 26th on the road at Point Park University, followed by their conference home opener against the University of Rio Grande on October 1st.
On October 8th, the Trailblazers will travel to take on the newest member of the River States Conference, the Mighty Oaks of Oakland City University. The Mighty Oaks return to the NAIA after being a member of NCAA DII. The Mighty Oaks will be immediately eligible for postseason competition, which is a benefit afforded to former members that return to the NAIA.
In total, the Trailblazers will host five RSC regular season matchups, concluding with Senior Day on October 31 against Brescia University. OCU will also host the University of Rio Grande, Asbury University, Carlow University, and Midway University.
Due to the ever evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, please stay tuned to our website for any scheduling changes that may occur in the coming months.
