Ohio Christian University's ABLAZE student ministry minstrel group will be performing in Indiana, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio on these dates at the following CCCU churches and summer camps, where OCU students are also serving as camp counselors:

June 10:  Community Wesleyan Church, Athens, OH

June 17:  Hartsville Church of Christ, Harstville, IN

June 17:  Chillicothe Paints Baseball Game, Chillicothe, OH (singing the national anthem at 6:05 p.m.)

June 19:  General CCCU Council, Circleville, OH

June 20-23:  Teens of Praise Camp, Circleville, OH

June 24-28:  Bible Camp, Maysville, GA

July 1:  The Grove Level Church, Maysville, GA

July 4-12:  Taylor County Camp, Butler, GA

July 8:  Rock Springs Church, Milner, GA

July 15-21:  Teens in Action Camp, Nipgen, OH

July 21:  Cincinnati Reds Baseball Game, Cincinnati, OH (singing the national anthem)

July 23-27:  Appalachian Youth Camp, Orrstown, PA 

August 3-12:  Roxbury Holiness Camp, Orrstown, PA

 

This music group is comprised of seven talented students and travels the region year-round, bringing its distinctive sound to churches, summer camps, youth events and more.

This year, Ohio Christian partnered with United Way of Pickaway County to expand the reach and scope by coordinating and bringing together the organizations individual efforts to serve the community.

The university was ranked 8th out of 15 by the Online Schools Report (OSR), which serves as a resource for students pursuing online programs. According to OSR, their rankings are based on six data points: three schoolwide and three program-specific. The event historically sends out over 400 students, faculty and staff into the community of Circleville and the surrounding area to serve those in need. Ohio Christian University is excited to host an upcoming concert, “An Evening with Mark Lee,” organized by Living by Faith Ministries. Lee is a founding member and guitarist for popular Christian rock band Third Day. The concert will be taking place on Sept. 16 from 7:00-8:30 pm, with doors opening at 6:00. Ohio Christian University campus welcomed the class of 2023 to campus on Saturday, August 17. Over 100 students and their parents converged on campus, organizing dorm rooms, attending meetings and hugging farewells. As the students were occupied, Ohio Christian President Dr. Jon Kulaga and his wife, Lena, met with the parents over coffee. The Ted Lewis Museum’s Fifth Annual Scholarship Gala “Steppin’ Out at the Ted Lewis Club” occurred earlier this month on Saturday, October 1st, 2016. Patrons arrived in black tie or 1920’s period dress for the occasion. They were served by a full service staff of uniformed doormen, elevator operators, maître d’ and waiters. Ohio Christian University students can now major or minor in English or History. The programs were created because OCU is awaiting approval to offer a Bachelor of Science in Education in Adolescence to Young Adult Education (high school teacher education program) with majors in integrated language arts, math, science, and social studies. The courses were already created and the decision was made to offer these as stand-alone degrees. The degrees are available to students in the Adult and Graduate Studies Program or Residential Undergraduate Program.   About the English Program OCU's

Rebecca Grooms Johnson, PhD, NCTM, is currently serving as President of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) – a professional organization of approximately 22,000 private and university music teachers. During the summer of 2016 she traveled extensively as a representative of MTNA and presenter. Immediately after chairing a 3-day meeting of the Board of Directors in July, Dr. Johnson flew to Europe, where she presented a 60-minute session on developing self-direction in adult music students at the International Society of Music Education (ISME) in Glasgow, Scotland. Mary Jane Dean, Adjunct Faculty at Ohio Christian University for over 25 years, was asked to judge students for the international piano guild in Detroit in May of 2016.  She judged over 125 students at the Evola Music Center. Piano Guild, based in Austin, Texas, judges over 125,000 students every spring from all over the United States and several foreign countries.  The students prepare from one to fifteen pieces and skills to play for the judge.  95% of those pieces are memorized. In Detroit, Dean enjoyed meeting some of the international teachers from Russia and Costa Rica.  Dean
