OCU Faculty Earn Doctorates image
Ohio Christian University seeks qualified faculty of the highest caliber. In the fall semester, four OCU faculty earned doctorates. Congratulations to Drs. Jacob Dodson, Sylvia McDonald, David Uhl, and Kelvin Webb. These faculty lead the way in demonstrating life-long learning for their students. Dr. Jacob D. Dodson has been an adjunct faculty member since 2009. He earned the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Christian Theology from Regent University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Ashland Theological Seminary. Dr. Dodson has contributed articles to the dictionary Testimoni di fede nelle Chiese della Riforma published by Città Nuova and written book reviews for Pneuma, Nova Religio, Ashland Theological Journal, and Evangelical Review of Theology. The title of his dissertation was Gifted in Love and Called to Be One: Toward a Trinitarian and Ecumenical Theology of the Charisms. Dr. Sylvia McDonald is a full-time Instructor of Psychology and has served at OCU since 2005. She earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from Walden University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Liberty University. Dr. McDonald authored the book Breaking the Silence: Recovering from Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Early Neonatal Death and has contributed chapters within the books Cup of Comfort for Mothers and Daughters, and Cup of Comfort for Friends. She also has several published articles in various magazines. Dr. McDonald also serves as the coordinator of the dual enrollment option that allows taking OCU classes for both high school and college credit. The title of her dissertation was The Effects of the Acquisition of General Psychology Knowledge on Faith Development in the Christian College Student. Alumnus Dr. David Uhl has been an affiliate faculty member since 2005. He earned the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Capella University. He also holds a Master of Science in Education from Capella University and a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies from Ohio Christian University. Dr. Uhl currently serves as the Executive Director of Main Street Lancaster and the president of the Downtown Special Improvement District. The title of his dissertation was A Study of Senior Pastor Turnover on Organizational Performance in Local Churches. Dr. Kelvin Webb has been an adjunct faculty member since 2009. He earned the Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary He also holds a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theological Studies from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Dr. Webb has been a pastor at three churches and a faculty member at multiple institutions. The title of his dissertation was A Paradigm for Churches: The Use of Technology in Ministry. Ohio Christian University is one of the fastest growing universities in Ohio. Over the past five years enrollment has grown 400 percent. With a heritage dating back to 1948, Ohio Christian University offers a complete education that develops students intellectually, professionally and spiritually. OCU offers degree programs designed to equip students to become leaders in their careers, communities, families and in the world. Students enrolled in OCU's traditional undergraduate program attend classes at its main campus in Circleville, Ohio. OCU's AIM Adult Program offers 12 campus locations in the surrounding region as well as online degree programs.

Melvin Maxwell was known as a powerful man of God and prayer warrior by those who knew him. On Saturday, July 4, 2020, Dr. Maxwell graduated from this life to his eternal home and was united with his Savior whom he loved. He was born in Georgetown, Ohio, on November 15, 1921, and grew up during the Great Depression. Though his mother died at an early age, his father was a godly man and raised him and his brother Millard to follow Christ no matter how hard the situation.
