My career has been in the financial industry. Prior to enrolling at Ohio Christian University (OCU) to finish my higher education, I was branch manager at a large bank in Columbus, Ohio. My goal has been to move upward to higher management levels which require appropriate degrees.
I learned of Ohio Christian University from my husband and enrolled in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies (AGS) because it is attuned to helping working adults achieve their career goals. Above all, that OCU is a Christian university influenced my decision to enroll. In classes, I could talk about Christ and not feel others might be offended if they did not share my faith perspective. Secondly, I wanted to be in a suitable business program. OCU accepted my earned college credits, and I completed my degree in two years with a major in business management.
Ohio Christian suits working adults. I gained value from discussing course topics with my peers, confirming and enhancing my learning. Experienced professors helped me learn to express myself and to think critically, enabling me to research and write well, as I was led by the Holy Spirit.
OCU courses pack a lot of material into short periods, providing impetus to continue. Each course builds on the one before it. My program covered everything, especially preparing me for my final project in the Capstone course. And, I valued greatly participating in the weekly devotions. The biggest takeaway for me is God is concerned and wants to be involved with every area of our lives—our jobs, careers, and passions.
I am now branch manager for The Union Bank Company in Gahanna, Ohio. Also, with God’s help, I am starting “Queen Bees Ministries”, a non-profit group whose mission is based on Proverbs 31. Our first “Women’s Financial Empowerment Summit” focuses on empowering women through better personal finance management. Workshop topics include Credit, Homeownership, Investment Real Estate, Savings and Investment, and Entrepreneurship.
