Dr. Malon Mimms Provides $2.5 Million Gift image

OCU is pleased to announce that Atlanta businessman Dr. Malon Mimms has gifted a 2.55 million dollar building and property in Atlanta, Georgia.The building is located on I-75 and will be used to establish the second Georgia educational site for OCU.  In giving the gift, Dr. Mimms expressed a hope to provide a great opportunity for the Atlanta area by investing in Ohio Christian University.  Dr. Mimms also expressed that he hopes others will be inspired to give to the cause of Christian education.OCU will use the building to offer AIM evening classes designed for busy adults.

The first Georgia educational site is located at Rock Springs Church in Milner and began six months ago.Ohio Christian University is one of the fastest growing universities in Ohio.  Over the past five years enrollment has grown from 400 to 2,400.  With a heritage dating back to 1948, Ohio Christian University offers a complete education that develops students intellectually, professionally and spiritually. OCU offers degree programs designed to equip students to become leaders in their careers, communities, families and in the world. Students enrolled in OCU’s traditional undergraduate program attend classes at its main campus in Circleville, Ohio.  OCU’s Adult & Online Degree Programs (AIM) provides several campus locations in central Ohio and near Atlanta, Georgia, as well as fully online degree programs.

Last week, Ohio Christian University’s Atlanta site in Georgia was awarded Member of the Week by the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce for outstanding commitment and service to the community. President of the Chamber Monica Colbert presented the award with two other members of the chamber to the campus. The Atlanta site has been a member of the Chamber for four years and has worked hard to impact the surrounding community, which boast over 6000 businesses. On Saturday, April 30, 2016, Ohio Christian University held its 66th Commencement Ceremonies at the university’s main campus in Circleville, Ohio. A record 810 associate, bachelor, and master level graduates participated a total of four ceremonies: three in Ohio and one in Georgia earlier this month. Kelvin J. Cochran of Atlanta, Georgia, was the 2016 Commencement speaker. Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, Cochran followed his childhood dream and became a firefighter in 1981. Working his way through the ranks, he was appointed Fire Chief of the Shreveport Fire Department in 1999

Ohio Christian University had the honor of standing by the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office today as Deputy Dale Thomas received an award for the D.A.R.E program — a new D.A.R.E Hummer with a slick, patriotic paint job — from local nonprofit Hetty’s Hopes and Dreams.
