Dr. Malon Mimms Provides $2.5 Million Gift image

OCU is pleased to announce that Atlanta businessman Dr. Malon Mimms has gifted a 2.55 million dollar building and property in Atlanta, Georgia.The building is located on I-75 and will be used to establish the second Georgia educational site for OCU.  In giving the gift, Dr. Mimms expressed a hope to provide a great opportunity for the Atlanta area by investing in Ohio Christian University.  Dr. Mimms also expressed that he hopes others will be inspired to give to the cause of Christian education.OCU will use the building to offer AIM evening classes designed for busy adults.

The first Georgia educational site is located at Rock Springs Church in Milner and began six months ago.Ohio Christian University is one of the fastest growing universities in Ohio.  Over the past five years enrollment has grown from 400 to 2,400.  With a heritage dating back to 1948, Ohio Christian University offers a complete education that develops students intellectually, professionally and spiritually. OCU offers degree programs designed to equip students to become leaders in their careers, communities, families and in the world. Students enrolled in OCU’s traditional undergraduate program attend classes at its main campus in Circleville, Ohio.  OCU’s Adult & Online Degree Programs (AIM) provides several campus locations in central Ohio and near Atlanta, Georgia, as well as fully online degree programs.

Last week, Ohio Christian University’s Atlanta site in Georgia was awarded Member of the Week by the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce for outstanding commitment and service to the community. President of the Chamber Monica Colbert presented the award with two other members of the chamber to the campus. The Atlanta site has been a member of the Chamber for four years and has worked hard to impact the surrounding community, which boast over 6000 businesses. Ohio Christian University is, once again, diving into their Community Garden Project. They received a grant $60,000 last year from the Arington Foundation. Dr. Rick Christman is providing oversight for the project this year and pushing through some big obstacles. The rain has been great, but makes it hard for upkeep. We currently have 4 employees that maintain the garden by weeding, watering, harvesting, as well as marketing and sales of produce. We are growing a wide range of crops including tomatoes, corn, a variety of peppers, squash, zucchini, etc. Produce is also given to local

Ohio Christian University would like to announce its application for a federal Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant. This grant will help fund the development of the proposed Southern Gateway Economic Innovation Development Center, on the campus of Ohio Christian University. The proposed project is 2 miles east of the city of Circleville in Pickaway County. Project design drawings (for download, below) will be made available for public review and comments for 30 days beginning on 6/10/13.All interested persons wishing to express their views concerning the project may submit
