CIRCLEVILLE, OH – After graduating from Ohio Christian in 2018, Zach Mason was still unsure the plan God had for him. A four year member of the Trailblazer baseball program, Mason graduated with a bachelor's in psychology, but would soon be called to a different opportunity.

Dr. Melvin Maxwell Graduates to Glory

Melvin Maxwell was known as a powerful man of God and prayer warrior by those
who knew him. On Saturday, July 4, 2020, Dr. Maxwell graduated from this life
to his eternal home and was united with his Savior whom he loved. He was born
in Georgetown, Ohio, on November 15, 1921, and grew up during the Great
Depression. Though his mother died at an early age, his father was a godly
man and raised him and his brother Millard to follow Christ no matter how
hard the situation.
On August 25, 1942, Maxwell married his wife, Laura. They had three children
together: Lawrence (Larry), John, and

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Back in February, the Ohio Christian Baseball team helped
host a local student battling cancer in the community. Sam, who currenlty has
spinal ependymoma, came to campus on February 24th to hang out with the team
and experience a practice.

Casey Coons Inducted Into Taylor University Hall of Fame

CIRCLEVILLE, OH - Ohio Christian University Head Men's Basketball Coach Casey
Coons was inducted into the Taylor University Athletics Hall of Fame this
past Saturday, joining the Class of 2019 that also included Molly Currens,
Tanya Crevier, Rick Atkinson, and Tyler Beachler. Coons was a member of the
Trojan's basketball team as a player from 2009-2013 and later served as an
assistant coach for the program.

Student Profile: Kyle Benecke Leaves Comfort Zone

Junior Kyle Benecke has a slew of rising talents. While being on Sports Link
and starring in Track and Cross Country, Kyle maintains superior academic
standing. One may think this cool kid with the Mohawk can't possibly do
anything else. But, when asked about some of his favorite activities, Kyle
brings up his band, Leaving Cardboard Houses, as if it were nothing.
Serving as lead singer, songwriter, and ukulele player, Kyle and drummer
Chris Volzke make up the band. Although they are just two, they sure know
how to fill a stage with musical presence. Writing, producing, managing, and

Class of 2016 graduate Nick Enix is accustomed to reaching high in advancing
his professional goals. As a Chemical Dependency major, Nick was blessed to
gain employment with the Pickaway Area Recovery Services (PARS) in
Circleville during his junior year. Today he continues there as a licensed
Substance Abuse Counselor.
Due to his excellent OCU preparation, Nick was selected over competitors for
his position. Completing his bachelor degree in Chemical Dependency
Counseling in just three-and-one-half years enabled him to pass the State of
Ohio’s licensing test quickly and dive

Upon graduation in Theology from Ohio Christian University, David Dean
entered Olivet Nazarene University’s Church Management program and earned
his Master's degree. Since then David has been an evangelist in many
churches, camps, and colleges, as well as a servant in mission fields for 25
years.
Since 2015, Rev. Dean is serving as OCU’s Director of Church Relations and
Executive Director of the Toler Leadership Institutes. He is also the
appointed Chairman of the Commission on Evangelism and Discipleship for
Churches of Christ in Christian Union.

Madeline McCain, an Ohio Christian University AYA (Adolescent and Young
Adult) education major with a concentration in English, recently accepted a
position as an intern at The Circleville Herald. She will begin her duties
by learning their computer system and typing police and court reports for the
paper. In time, Maddy could move on to writing press reports, and she may
eventually be given her own by-line.

OCU Graduate Update - Allyson Jones

Allyson is a 2016 graduate, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood
Education (PreK-3). Allyson is now a 2nd grade teacher at the International
School of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and loving every minute of it! Allyson
completed her student teaching at IST as part of our new Student Teaching
Abroad program. IST is a private Christian school in the capitol city.
Allyson lives with other teachers and spends many of her weekends going on
exciting trips in the rainforests, waterfalls, and to the beach as well as
all the normal things like shopping and going to the movies and, of
Allyson is a 2016 graduate, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood
