MIDWAY, KY – Despite a strong effort from Sophomore Justin Barksdale (SO/Fishers, IN), the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers dropped a conference road matchup on Tuesday evening, falling to the Midway Eagles 77-71.
Both the Trailblazers and the Eagles shared time in front in the opening 20 minutes, as Ohio Christian built a four point lead with 3:02 remaining in the first half before the Eagles finished strong to grab a two-point advantage.
Following the break, Midway continued to build their lead, growing it to as many as 11 points halfway through the second half. Ohio Christian would attempt to rally late, pulling to within as few as four points prior to the Eagles sealing the win.
Barksdale's 22 points led all scorers on Tuesday night to go along with 10 rebounds. Juan Woods (FR/Pickerington, OH)' 17 points also helped the Trailblazer offense, as bench points were hard to come by outside of Tolu Telli (FR/Lanham, MD)'s 11 points.
"I felt like our guys really fought hard tonight," said Head Coach Casey Coons. "Unfortunately, the ball didn't bounce our way and we didn't make the two or three plays needed to win. Our group is continuing to grow, and we are taking steps in the right direction. We will look to bounce back on a quick turnaround Thursday."
Ohio Christian's next matchup will be a home game against Brescia University on Thursday evening in the Maxwell Center. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM EST.
