Reminder - file FASFA

Filing the FAFSA isn’t as complicated or time-consuming as it seems – you only need about 6 documents and 22 minutes! In the time it takes you to catch up on your social media feed, you can take the critical first step in getting the money you need to attend college.

Here’s a checklist of everything you need:

  1. An FSA ID. Your FSA ID allows you to log in to your account, sign the FAFSA and make changes or add schools. You and your parent must create separate FSA IDs. Create this first!
  2. You and your parent’s Social Security or Alien Registration number. Here’s what to do if your parent doesn’t have a Social Security number.
  3. Driver’s license (if you have one)
  4. Your and your parent’s federal income tax returns and W-2s from 2019 (you can use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to import this data!)
  5. Bank statement
  6. If applicable, other records of money earned, and records of investments and untaxed income

(If you are an independent student, you won’t need the items mentioned for parents.)

File the 2021-22 FAFSA

Don’t worry if you can’t find these materials right away. You can start the FAFSA and come back as many times as you need to update information or add schools (OCU's school code is 003030). The important thing is to get started!

Norman Vincent Peale’s The Power of Positive Thinking had a significant impact on my life while I was in high school. As I read this influential book, I resolved to think positively about everything to which I put myself. I aimed to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy. Therefore, I applied, was accepted, and graduated four years later. My positive thinking helped me succeed! I learned you become what you constantly think about: “Think positively,” Peale says, “and you set in motion

If asked a year ago if she would ever consider going on a mission trip to Cambodia, OCU sophomore Sophia Donaldson would have exclaimed, “You were crazy!”  Yet, today, Sophia with 12 other adventurous students is set to be on mission in Cambodia, May 29th through June 12th, 2018. Unlike some participants, Sophia has felt a clear calling from God to undertake this mission.  Playing guitar since age ten, but not serious about it until this year, Sophia strongly feels God wants her to go to Cambodia and play music for the people. It’s that simple and clear.  Despite initial doubts, she
