CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The Trailblazer Men's Tennis team saw history yesterday as there were three firsts to happen at the match against the University of Miami - Middletown.

First, Head Coach James Wells got his first collegiate win as a head coach. This was a huge accomplishment and is being recognized as a history marker for the program as we see his leadership take the Trailblazer tennis team on in the future seasons down the road.

Second and third pieces of Trailblazer history were both attributed to sophomore Chris Hupp in 1st Singles. To begin, he won his match against Dalton Campbell in 1st Singles 6-0, 6-0. This match being the first ever 6-0, 6-0 victory in Trailblazer Men's Tennis history. Additionally, with this win over Campbell of Miami-Middletown, Chris now holds the all-time career win in 1st singles record with 5, previously held by Ryan Jones at 4. With Chris being a sophomore, he has plenty more where that came from.

On to the other results for the match.

In doubles, Chris Hupp and Zach Savino defeat Dalton Campbell and Hunter Hall, 6-2. OCU's David Mack and Ian Frank took on the duo of Collin Holmes and Vishnu Vengala, but ultimately fell, 6-2.

In singles, Chris Hupp defeated Dalton Campbell, 6-0, 6-0. Zach Savino took on Hunter Hall and swept him away with scores of 6-2 and 6-1 with a clinching point. Collin Holmes of Miami-Middeltown took down OCU's Ian Frank, 6-4, 6-1. Middletown's Vishnu Vengala defeated Trailblazer Ryan Batig, 6-4, 6-3 while David Mack wins in 5 singles by default.

With his first career win, Coach Wells had this to say about his team, "I am extremely proud of all of our guys today. Chris and Zach overcame a tough start to run away with their doubles match. We then only needed 2 singles wins which both Chris and Zach gave us. Chris was in control of his match from the start with some big serving and big groundstrokes. Zach took control of his singles court as well with very consistent groundstrokes and excellent placement. These kids have worked very hard and overcame a lot of adversity and I'm glad to see that it paid off with a hard fought victory."

With this exciting win for the program, the Men's Tennis team now set their sights on Kentucky Wesleyan as they travel down to Owensboro, KY on Friday, October 29th with a match time slated for 3pm EST.
