Follow Christ, Lead the Way

Fort Wayne, IN – Saturday, April 10th Ohio Christian University took part in the Warrior Open which was hosted by Indiana Tech. Throughout much of the day athletes battled the elements as pouring rains and strong winds swept through the area.

Chester Mientkiewicz (JR/Kinsman, OH) started the running events off with a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. His time of 10 minutes and 17.83 seconds broke the previous school record (10:28.02) by over 10 seconds, which was set by Dylan Newton in 2016.

Morgan Maffett (SO/Pickerington, OH) led the ladies with a runner-up finish in the B section of the hammer throw, which consisted of 24 athletes. Her toss of 42.43 meters was a new personal best while inching closer to another school record. Maffett also recorded a personal best in the Discus (31.85 meters) while finishing 9th in the B section.

The Men's 4x400 meter relay team placed 5th in a time of 3 minutes and 52.3 seconds. The relay members consisted of Derek Donner (SO/Lebanon, OH), Noah Booze (SO/Urbana, OH), Nathan Rose (SR/Hilliard, OH) and Evan Caldwell.
