Since arriving, Dr. Brent Nolte has begun creative collaboration with Music Department colleagues to gain approval for two new certificate programs for Suzuki String Pedagogy and Piano Pedagogy.
Moreover, the Music Department is partnering with the Psychology Department to meet the needs of students interested in music therapy. These students are being encouraged to earn their Bachelor of Arts in Music with a minor in Psychology, preparing them well for a master’s degree in Music Therapy.
Collaborating with Worship Leadership Professor Dr. Rodney Sones, the department is planning a trip to Nashville in the fall of 2019 that will inspire Music and Worship Leadership program students by directly experiencing the work of Christian musicians of the highest caliber.
Dr. Nolte has joined the Grove City Community Winds as a member of the trumpet section. The ensemble is led by distinguished conductor and composer James Swearingen. Nolte is serving also as organist, trumpeter, and choir member at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Grove City, and he has joined the Board of Trustees of the Ted Lewis Museum in Circleville, Ohio.
A member of the American Guild of Organists, Nolte will be presenting organ recitals in Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia in 2019.
