

One hundred and three OCU Morrow students will graduate at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Divine Faith Church, 9800 Tara Blvd., Jonesboro, Georgia.
Graduation speaker is Senator Emanuel Jones who was elected to Georgia's Senate from the 10th District in 2004 and represents southwest DeKalb and Henry counties.
Senator Jones is chairman of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Advisory Council and served as chairman of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus. He is a member of the Banking and Financial Institutions, Economic Development and Tourism, Interstate Cooperation, Special Judiciary and Retirement Committees.
Senator Jones is president of the Legacy Automotive Group that includes Legacy Chevrolet Cadillac Saab of Columbus, Legacy Ford of McDonough, and owner of one of the Atlanta’s largest African-American owned businesses. He is a recipient of the Global Peace Festival Award in Malaysia and named as one of Atlanta Tribune Magazine’s “Men of Distinction” and received the Black Enterprise Top 50 Minority Owned Companies Award, as well as U. S. Department of Commerce Minority Service Firm of the Year.
Senator Jones was a 2008 nominee for the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award, nominated by Ambassador Andrew Young. He received his MBA in Finance/Accounting from Columbia University and BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Jones served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, rising to captain. He graduated class valedictorian from West Fulton High School in Atlanta, Ga, and held positions with IBM and Arthur Anderson & Co., prior to entering the automobile business.
Mr. Jones is a former trustee for Henry Medical Center, past Finance chairman of Henry Medical Center, past chairman of Henry County YMCA, past chairman of Henry County’s United Way Campaign and Partners in Education of numerous elementary, middle and high schools. He was chairman of Henry County Chamber of Commerce, a member of Leadership Georgia, and board member of James Bristor Society, University of Pennsylvania. He sits on the Board at Columbia University Business School Greenhouse Project, School of Social Policy and Practice and Georgia State University Project Healthy Grandparent’s board.
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Senator Jones resides in Ellenwood, GA with wife Gloria, sons Emanuel II, Elam, and daughter Emani. He is a deacon of the Shiloh Baptist Church in McDonough.
