CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO—Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, is pleased to announce that 28 preservice educators have been invited and inducted into its membership through the Alpha Iota Sigma Chapter of Ohio Christian University.

The initiation ceremony took place on April 9, 2019 at The Ministry and Performing Arts Center. The ceremony opened with Dr. Hank Kelly, Provost at Ohio Christian University, giving the welcome and prayer. Dr. Ann Shelly, of Kappa Delta Pi, installed the new members, the Alpha Iota Sigma Chapter and the officers. Mr. Jonathan Davis, Superintendent of Circleville City Schools, was the keynote speaker and spoke about the tenets of Kappa Delta Pi—Fidelity to Humanity, Service, Toil, and Science and the passion that is required of educators. The ceremony closed with a short speech by 2019-2020 Alpha Iota Sigma Chapter President, Tori Williams. Refreshments and fellowship followed at the conclusion of the ceremony.

The Society inducts only those individuals who have exhibited the ideals of scholarship, integrity in service, and commitment to excellence in teaching and its allied professions. Selection as a member of Kappa Delta Pi is based on high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career, and a professional attitude that assures steady growth in the profession. At Ohio Christian University, members must earn a 3.25 GPA and have been accepted into the Teacher Education Program.

“Our program is very excited that we have been granted a Kappa Delta Pi chapter at Ohio Christian University. The mission, vision, and tenets of Kappa Delta Pi parallel those of our program and we are anxious to start our service to the community and educators next fall”, said Dr. Valerie Free Jones, Chapter Counselor.
