Ohio Christian to Recognize Alumni at Trailblazer Celebration image

As part of Ohio Christian University Homecoming & Family Day, the Trailblazer Celebration will take place on Saturday, Oct. 12.  Alumni may recognize this event from previous years, formerly known as Legacy Chapel.

The service will begin with a time of worship by Ohio Christian’s Worship Collective and an address from Ohio Christian’s President, Dr. Jon Kulaga. The university will then recognize the Alumnus of the Year from the Traditional, Online, and Ministry programs. The event will conclude with a presentation about the Alumni Association.

The alumni awardees are listed below:

Brenda (Mason) Young ('74) - Traditional Alumna of the Year

She received her B.A. in Religious Education and Theology from Ohio Christian University and then went on to obtain her master’s from Asbury Theological Seminary. Brenda was honored for her skill in ministry and missions with an honorary Doctor of Divinity from the Center for Contemporary Christianity in Bangalore, India. Brenda currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church in Akron, Ohio.

Anthony Wilson ('10) - Online Alumnus of the Year

He received his B.A. in Leadership and Ministry from Ohio Christian University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Anthony went on to receive his master’s and a doctorate in Leadership. He has authored a book and currently serves as the Director of Safety and Security for the Columbus Metropolitan Library

Tim Moore ('04) - Ministry Alumnus of the Year

He received his B.A. in Leadership and Ministry from Ohio Christian University. Tim currently serves as the lead pastor of X Church, which he and his wife, Lorelei, founded in 2003 with two other families. His church of almost 1,400 seeks to create a culture that reaches people who are far from God or have never been to church before.

For parents of young children, the Teacher Education department is hosting a puppet show during the celebration. Parents can drop children off at 10 a.m. in the Detty Chapel for the performance.

The Trailblazer Celebration will kick-off at 10:30 a.m. in the Ministry & Performing Arts Center. Attendees can register for homecoming events at ohiochristian.edu/homecoming.

Homecoming will be a great family event with games on the lawn, free Buffalo Wild Wings, and alumni games. Cheer on returning and current players as the Women’s and Men’s basketball teams face-off against alumni. The games will take place on Saturday the 12th at 3:00 and 5:00pm respectively. Women’s Volleyball will also be playing at home against Carlow University at noon in the Maxwell Center.
