The Ohio Christian University athletic department and School of Business and Government recently took a trip to Alabama to learn about careers in the sports business field, and network with professionals in the industry. Just a few of the businesses that students had the opportunity to visit were The United States Sports Academy, SEC headquarters, and Reese’s Senior Bowl.
After visiting the United States Sports Academy, Ohio Christian University students were featured in a publication for The United States Sports Academy titled, “The Academy.” The feature briefly touched on what students did while visiting, which included a tour of the American Sport Art Museum, and networking with faculty. The United States Sports Academy is an institution that focuses specifically on careers in the sports industry ranging from managers to healthcare providers. Some graduates from this institution have gone on to work at the Olympic level.
Students were given the chance to speak with professionals from ESPN and the Tennessee Titans. The also met with, Sports Complex Directors, Directors of Athletics, City Mayors, and Sports Psychologists. While this experience was very valuable to the students, they also took the time to volunteer. During the evenings, student volunteered at FCA Senior Bowl Outreach and Light of the Village after school program. Students were able to gain knowledge and real-life experience on the trip, while also giving back to the community they were visiting.
