Ohio Christian University earned twelfth place on college data and review site Niche's list of the top 25 safest college campuses in America. Niche analyzed data and student reviews to look at which campuses are the safest. This honor did not escape the attention of Newsweek magazine, read their article here.

Niche's Safest College Campuses ranking is intended to highlight colleges with little to no campus crime, drugs, or alcohol usage.  They consider not only the campus data, but also the crime incidents in the local area, rates for violence and arrests, and comb through student survey responses when considering a campus to be designated among the safest in America.

Student safety is highly important at Ohio Christian University as it helps foster a healthy learning environment for our students. Dr. Jon Kulaga, President, said this regarding campus safety, "Having a safe college environment is critical for students."

Melvin Maxwell was known as a powerful man of God and prayer warrior by those who knew him. On Saturday, July 4, 2020, Dr. Maxwell graduated from this life to his eternal home and was united with his Savior whom he loved. He was born in Georgetown, Ohio, on November 15, 1921, and grew up during the Great Depression. Though his mother died at an early age, his father was a godly man and raised him and his brother Millard to follow Christ no matter how hard the situation. Ohio Christian University (OCU) conducted a dedication ceremony for its 30,000 square foot, $6 million Dean and Diana Hickman Student Center on March 23rd. The building includes a cafeteria, café, bookstore, intramural gym space, game room, classrooms, and offices. The building was needed to support the rapidly growing student body at OCU.The building is named after Dean and Diana Hickman who gave a significant gift to the University. The Chillicothe City Schools and the Chillicothe Education Association recognized Ohio Christian University mathematics professor Dennis Ray as this year's Educator Emeritus.  The ceremony was held Friday, January 18.Ray spent his entire 30-year public school teaching career at Chillicothe High School, retiring in 2008. He taught all levels of mathematics from ninth-grade math to AP Calculus.Ray was the Carrollton High School salutatorian in 1974.
