The 2019 Summer Institute took place on June 3-7. The Ohio Christian University Teacher Education Department partnered with Circleville City Schools, Pickaway County Board of Developmental Disabilities, and Pickaway County ESC to design an institute that would benefit many educators.
Courses offered for graduate credit included Trauma Informed Care Training II, Orton-Gillingham Training, and Google Classroom Training.
The Ohio Christian University Teacher Education Department believes in providing excellent and effective professional development for the teachers and the school districts they work with and beyond. They were excited with the new partnerships formed this summer and are looking forward to next summer and offering more courses.

CIRCLEVILLE, OHIO—Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society
in Education, is pleased to announce that 28 preservice educators have been
invited and inducted into its membership through the Alpha Iota Sigma Chapter
of Ohio Christian University.
The initiation ceremony took place on April 9, 2019 at The Ministry and
Performing Arts Center. The ceremony opened with Dr. Hank Kelly, Provost at
Ohio Christian University, giving the welcome and prayer. Dr. Ann Shelly, of
Kappa Delta Pi, installed the new members, the Alpha Iota Sigma Chapter and

A pre-Teacher Education student was recently in my office to express
enthusiastic gratitude for the valuable mentoring received from Courtney
Teague, a sophomore in the OCU Middle Childhood Teacher Education program
(with concentrations in Math and Science.)
Because of Courtney’s kindness, encouragement, mentoring, and teaching,
the student who was struggling in a general education course, was able to
pass the final exam three grade levels higher than on the previous two exams.

Allyson Jones has grown up being involved in ministry. Her family has
always served together, whether in pastoring or missions work. Her dad is
the President of GO International giving her the chance to travel to Mexico,
Colombia, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Trinidad. This year she
will be returning to Trinidad with a team of OCU Students over Spring Break
and will be going to Costa Rica in May.
