CIRCLEVILLE, OH – Ohio Christian University is honored to be named a Champions of Character Five Star Institution for the 2022-23 school year.
The NAIA Champions of Character program was created with the intention of changing the culture of sport into a more character-driven environment. The NAIA encourages student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans to abide by five core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership in both practice and competition.
Five Star Institutions are measured on their demonstrated commitment to the NAIA Champions of Character. They earn points based on their efforts in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus and character recognition in their athletic programs.
"It's been a while since we've received this recognition, but it's important that we do," Ohio Christian Athletic Director George Arroyo Jr. said.
"It starts with creating an environment that fosters character driven teams and then recruiting student athletes who place high value in their academic focus, competition in sport and service to others. While our commitment to Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership is important, our commitment to honoring Christ in sport, on campus and throughout the community is greater. The coaches and athletes work diligently to ensure actions are pleasing to Him and that we represent Ohio Christian with excellence, whether home or away."
The Ohio Christian University athletic department is dedicated to pursuing excellence in and out of competition for the glory of God.
