CAEP Accreditation

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation has granted 7 years of accreditation to the Teacher Education Program at Ohio Christian University, the highest award the organization allows. The current Accreditation has been granted at the initial-licensure level for all major concentrations OCU offers at the undergraduate level for Teacher Education Preparation.

CAEP Accreditation is granted when the Accreditation Council determines that an Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) meets all CAEP Standards, even if areas for improvement (AFIs) are identified in the final decision. The full Accreditation Council makes all final decisions relevant to the CAEP Standards based on evidence submitted by the EPP, findings from the evaluation team, and sufficiency of evidence for each standard, and then acts upon the recommendations from the initial and joint panel reviews. The Council pays particular attention to consistency across all of the accreditation decisions.

“We are thrilled that we’ve received the full 7-year accreditation, especially since this was the first time we’ve gone through this process with CAEP,” commented Dr. Jeanne Bruce, Dean of the School of Education. “It is a huge accomplishment and it was achieved only through a lot of prayer, preparation, and teamwork. I’m thankful for the people who worked so hard to make this happen.”

Ohio Christian University closed on their production, Peter Pan, Saturday, November 5th, and it was a record-breaking fall show for the OCU performing arts team. Ohio Christian University held its first ever Summer Celebration Picnic on Friday, July 16, 2021. This was a time for OCU Alumni, donor partners and community members to get together and enjoy Food, Friends and Fellowship. In spite of some scattered storms, many people of all ages gathered together. OCU’s on-site dining service, Simply Delicious by Hallmark, provided a wonderful picnic dinner, while guests enjoyed the music ministry of The Lore Family (Portsmouth, OH) and Richard Jordan (Nashville, TN). Incoming students started the morning doing activities together where they had the opportunity to meet their fellow classmates.
