PITTSBURGH, PA – The Ohio Christian University Trailblazers battled it out on the road on Saturday, riding an offensive explosion in the second half to seal the 6-3 victory. The win marks the team's first River States Conference victory of the season.
Andrew Smith (JR/Dansville, MI) kicked off the scoring for Ohio Christian in the 33rd minute, as neither team managed a successful offensive push in most of the opening half. Following halftime, both teams caught fire, with the Trailblazers netting five goals in less than 30 minutes.
Individually, Ohio Christian's Bryce Hull (SO/Grove City) finished the day with a hat trick, scoring three goals on eight shots. Smith ended the day with a pair of goals, while Jesse Current (JR/Leesburg, OH) sent in the final score on a free kick from Gabriel Spindola (FR)
"The guys did well to play out our game plan and we got to see it produce well in the second half," said Head Coach Josh Murton. "We obviously would have liked to see the late goals we gave up get cleaned up a little, but that gives us something to work on this week. It was great to get the win!"
Now standing at 1-5 in the River States Conference, the Trailblazers will travel to face Cedarville University on October 18th in a non-conference match.
