DAYTON, OH - Following a strong presence in last year's Nationals, the Trailblazers come out with a good start to the 2021 XC season in their first competition. This meet was not only fellow NAIA and River States runners, but Ohio Christian also shared the course with both division 1 and division 2 schools such as Ohio University, University of Dayton, Cedarville, etc.

On the men's side, DJ Dickerson led his squad with a time of 15:47.6 with a pace of 5:06 per mile. This blazing speed placed him 24th in a field of 96 athletes. Coming in second and third on the Ohio Christian team were brothers Corry and Chet Mientkiewicz, respectively. Corry placed 45th with a time of 16:30.9 and Chet came in 56th with a time of 17:02.8.

"The guys really came out to run today. I feel like we still have a great shot at going back to Nationals this year and improving on last years performances. I was very impressed with DJ's performance today and he will only keep getting faster as the season progresses." said Interim Head Coach Courtney Brown.

As for the women, freshman Kayla Day from Lancaster came through with the fastest time for the Trailblazers at 22:41.2 with a pace of 7:19  per mile. This pace placed Kayla at 67th out of 79 runners today. Acacia May and Rachel Lomaka both placed 73rd and 74th respectively with times of 28:46.9 and 28:49.2.

Coach Brown had this to say, "We didn't exactly get where we know we can get with the women today, but all I forsee is progress and great achievements for these women in teh future. Progression is the key for this season in both men and the women and we now see in both groups what we need to get accomplished in order to see that progression. God is good! Ready to see this season continue!"

"We want to thank Wright State for hosting this beautiful event and for all the teams that came out to compete!"
