Online Emergency & Disaster Management Program Ranked #2 in the Country image

Ohio Christian University’s online Bachelor of Arts in Emergency & Disaster Management was recently ranked as the #2 program in the country by Intelligent.com.

According to Intelligent.com, the rankings are based on an assessment of 1,604 accredited colleges and universities. Each program is evaluated based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, and post-graduate employment. 

Ohio Christian’s Emergency & Disaster Management Programs prepare students for work in government, non-profit and private emergency response organizations. The programs combine a strong course load in emergency and disaster management specific classes with fieldwork and experience in emergency exercises to ensure graduates are prepared for their careers.

“The requirement for emergency exercises is a part of our core course load for emergency management students,” said Dr. Thad Hicks, Head of the Emergency Management Program and Certified Emergency Manager. “The students learn to design exercises and participate in delivering them.”

Ohio Christian University was pleased to welcome 69 students to Orientation Day 2019 on June 14. Incoming students started the morning doing activities together where they had the opportunity to meet their fellow classmates. After the students settled down, OCU Provost, Dr. Bradford Sample and Dr. Valerie Jones, Teacher Education Department Chair, encouraged the new students to pursue academic excellence and to, above all, grow in Christ. On Memorial Day evening an EF4 tornado tore through the Dayton, Ohio region, leaving a path of destruction and debris behind. In the days following the disaster, many agencies rushed in to provide relief. The Salvation Army is one such group providing relief. Two Disaster Management and Relief students made their way to Eastern Kentucky early Tuesday morning in route to assist in the disaster clean-up.  The students, Kendra Dixon and James Dixon, teamed up with a Nazarene Disaster Response team from Middleport, Ohio, headed by Daniel Fulton, an Ohio Christian University graduate.  The group will be serving in Salyersville, KY, an area about a half hour from West Liberty Kentucky, which has been receiving the bulk of the media coverage in the aftermath of the storms.  Last week, the weather service identified at least 45 separate tornadoes
