RICHMOND, IN – Facing the Red Wolves of Indiana University East (RV) on the road on Saturday, the Trailblazers looked to avenge their 95-94 overtime loss at home earlier in the season.
From the tip, the Red Wolves maintained the momentum, starting the day on a 16-2 run leading to a 52-24 halftime lead. The Trailblazers struggled to find an edge, as OCU struggled from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
In the second half, OCU's offense began to pick up the pace to increase their point total but failed to overcome the early deficit in the 96-60 loss.
Justin Barksdale (SO/Fishers, IN) led his squad in scoring with 16 points, also adding nine rebounds and five assists. Juan Woods (FR/Pickerington, OH) was the only other member of the Trailblazers to finish in double digits, tallying 11.
"IU East really jumped on us from the tip and we were scrambling to play catch up," said Head Coach Casey Coons. "We are young and still haven't been consistent with our ability to start games well on the road and they made us pay. We will get back to the drawing board and try to recuperate at home in a big game for us on Tuesday."
Following the loss, Ohio Christian will return home for their final regular season home game of the year when they host Carlow University on Tuesday night. The women's game will tipoff at 5:00 PM followed by the men at 7:00 PM.
