Religion Department Sponsors “Long Haul Ministry” Conference

“If you dare, God will be there,” challenged Asbury Theological Seminary professor of Old Testament, Dr. John Oswalt, while addressing a convocation of Ohio Christian University religion faculty, students, and alumni, together with a diverse cross section of pastors from the central Ohio area.

Drawing from select Old Testament passages, Dr. Oswalt illustrated the necessity of “courage and risk taking” for those who desire “long haul ministry” in a 21st Century world.

Lonnie Potts, Interim Religion Department Chair, convened this free annual ministry training event saying, “The ministry and wisdom imparted to you today by Dr. Oswalt is the expression of our appreciation for your multifaceted support of the OCU Religion Department. Our missional commitment remains ‘to provide students with the biblical, theological, and practical ministry experiences required for a holistic education in the Wesleyan tradition.’ We cannot achieve this mission without your wisdom, guidance and support. Together we can raise up another generation of pastors committed to long haul ministry in the 21st century. Teamwork makes the dream work – let’s do this together!”
