OCU's Ablaze to open for Tenth Avenue North on August 11th image

On August 11th, Ohio Christian University's traveling music ministry group Ablaze will open for Tenth Avenue North at the Ross County Fair in Chillicothe, Ohio.The student group travels the region bringing its distinctive sound to churches, schools, youth events and more. Their masterful vocals and instrumental arrangements blend the foundations of contemporary worship with genuine, timeless lyrics as they spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

"We get to travel to lots of different places and meet a lot of people," said Caitlyn McCrary, an Ablaze member and OCU Junior. "There have been quite a few moments that will stick with me, but this is definitely going to be up there as one of the coolest things we get to do. I am just super grateful for the chance to be on the same stage as such an incredibly talented group with my closest friends getting to do what we love."

Tenth Avenue North is a Dove-Award winning contemporary Christian band that is planning to release their fifth studio album this fall.

On July 10th, Ohio Christian University welcomed 62 incoming students to campus for the first Orientation Day of the summer. Orientation Days are for incoming students to the Undergraduate Campus Program to register for classes and prepare for their first semester on campus. OCU had several COVID-19 procedures in place including taking temperatures, requiring masks, social distancing guidelines, and hand sanitizing stations to help ensure the safety of everyone on campus. Lauren Ray, a 2018 Emergency and Disaster Management graduate of OCU, currently serves as the Assistant Director of Student Life – Housing and Discipline, a role she took over earlier this year. Lady Trailblazer Volleyball fans will remember Lauren as a key member of the program, playing for the team for three seasons (2015-17). In compliance with Governor DeWine's announcement (3/12/20) concerning coronavirus precautions and a ban prohibiting mass gatherings of more than 100 people, Ohio Christian University has canceled the April 4 Jazz Ambassadors concert that was scheduled in the Ministry & Performing Arts center on campus. To ensure that information provided to all staff, faculty, students, family members, and community members be the most up to date, Ohio Christian University launched a Center for Coronavirus Updates on the university website.

Ohio Christian University's Maxwell Center parking lot was filled with hundreds of smiling Trunk-or-Treaters on October 23 as the University hosted many neighbors and friends at its annual Halloween fun fest. As ever, the children showed delight in the Trunk-or-Treat destinations and games, engendering another memorable time for the young-at-heart. Families moved about the parking lot lined with cars with Halloween-style decorated trunks, collecting candy and playing games.
