Ohio Christian University was pleased to welcome 69 students to Orientation Day 2019 on June 14. Incoming students started the morning doing activities together where they had the opportunity to meet their fellow classmates.
After the students settled down, OCU Provost, Dr. Bradford Sample and Dr. Valerie Jones, Teacher Education Department Chair, encouraged the new students to pursue academic excellence and to, above all, grow in Christ.
Jones also gave a warm welcome to the students saying, “We here are family, and your faculty members here truly care about you the student and parents, your children.”
Later, students and their parents were guided to the various locations they needed to be for registration, financial aid and photographs. The Maxwell Center was bustling with the excited chatter of new students as they lined up for photos while their parents flocked to the bookstore to show their OCU pride.
Incoming student Nana Sharpong, a business major and soccer player from Columbus, OH, said he liked how peaceful and calm the campus was and all the happy faces. His father, Paul Sharpong, said “bringing up children to a Christian life is very important and I’m happy with that priority here. I love this college for my child.”
Molly Taylor, an incoming early education major from Lucasville, OH, was also excited as both her parents are alumni. “[OCU] just kind of felt more like a home to me, the people were so welcoming to me, it just felt like a good fit for me. I wasn’t worried about anything else; it was mainly about making myself happy and doing what God has called me to do.”
Orientation Day 2019 was made successful by the dedicated admissions team who organized the event and showed servant-hearted leadership as they directed everyone to where they needed to be.

Ohio Christian University is hosting Pizza and Points for youth groups and
prospective students to cheer on the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers
during the Men’s Basketball game against the Point Park University Pioneers
on Saturday, January 18th at 3 p.m.
The free event includes admission to the game, pizza, giveaways and face
painting. In addition, high school juniors and seniors can enter to shoot a
half court shot for a chance to win a $12,000 scholarship!

Ohio Christian University is working hard to prepare for the start of the
Spring 2020 semester, which begins Jan. 8. This semester, the campus welcomes
over 20 new students, 10 of whom are transferring from Cincinnati Christian
University following the closing of its doors.

Education Summit Draws Local and State Representatives

On Friday Nov. 15, teacher education students and professionals gathered on
the campus of Ohio Christian University where they discussed Ohio’s new
“Each Child Our Future” education plan. The event featured government and
education professionals with insight on the new plan and how it will affect
education now and in the future.

Almost 100 people gathered in the Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center at
Ohio Christian University to attend a Rural Development Forum on Oct. 31. The
event was organized by The Montrose Group LLC and the keynote address was
made by Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted.

attending expert advisory council discussions, touring an Ohio penal

CIRCLEVILLE, OH – Ohio Christian University is pleased to announce that
they have been named an NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Institution for
the 2017-18 academic year.
Each year, NAIA schools use the Champions of Character scorecard to measure
the pursuit of character-driven athletics. Schools scoring a minimum of 60
out of 100 points earn the Champions of Character Five-Star Institution
Award.
The Champions of Character Scorecard measures growth in training, promotion,
conduct in competition and commitment in five key areas with a possibility of
earning 100 points.

Ohio Christian University’s 2018 fall semester Move-In Day proved one of
the best. As rain-laden early-day clouds dispersed, a bright sun emerged to
enliven this much-anticipated and event-filled day.
Greeted by “#OCUMoveIn - Welcome Home” posters, an eager class of new
students streamed into the University’s Ministry and Performing Arts Center
(MPAC) to sign in, check into dorms, and finish financial arrangements.
Admissions staff, clad in OCU-blue polo shirts, warmly greeted the
newcomers. Blue and silver balloons festooned check-in tables where the
