Ohio Christian University’s School of Business and Government welcomed Michael Berry to campus as a guest speaker last month. Berry spoke on the topic of religious freedom in relation to his work with First Liberty Institute (formerly known as Liberty Institute).
OCU believes that exposing students to a depth of knowledge and experience is a vital component in creating a firm foundation for their future. Each semester, dozens of honored guests are welcomed to campus so that students may engage in an open dialogue about the issues of today with some of the brightest minds in their respective fields.
According to First Liberty, more than 1,200 instances of “religious hostility” have occurred between 2013 and 2016. Berry expressed the urgency of deterioration religious liberty in America, saying, "religious freedom is our first liberty.”
Berry was featured as part of the School of Business and Government’s Distinguished Speaker Series. He is Senior Counsel & Director of Military Affairs for First Liberty Institute, where he focuses on cases involving religious liberty within the armed forces. Berry also served in the Marine Corps for nearly 8 years, and still remains in reserve. A graduate of Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, Berry uses his experiences to represent clients of all backgrounds. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife and four children.
