Ohio Christian University was pleased to welcome both Robert Spencer and Samuel Whitfield as
guest speakers on Thursday, March 17, 2016. They agreed to answer questions facilitated by Dr. Garrison, and later responded to questions from the audience. The speakers tackled a relevant question: Is Islam a religion of peace
Robert Spencer spoke first, citing the main issue with Western culture as the inability to deal with Islam openly and honestly. “America is stigmatized against honest discussion…” he said, sharing a story about a media store employee who was hesitant to turn in a video of terrorism due to fear of being racist. Spencer urged that Islam is not a religion of peace, and should not be treated as such.
Samuel Whitfield added, “The issue of Israel is growing in controversy; it is time to take a fresh look at how we engage. In World War II, people kept quiet out of fear. We should pray to be delivered from fear.” Whitfield says that peaceful Muslims simply are not following their religion.
Spencer serves as the Director of Jihad Watch, an organization dedicated to bringing public attention to the role that jihad theology and ideology play in the modern world. In addition, he is a New York Times bestselling author of numerous books, and conducts frequent research on the Qur’an.
Whitfield currently serves on the leadership team of the International House of Prayer of Kansas City. Prior to serving at IHOPKC, his ministry experience included helping to lead a school of ministry and serving on a church-planting team.
These speakers were featured as part of the School of Business and Government’s Distinguished Speaker Series.

A Christmas Message
Published: December 14, 2018
Mary, did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect lamb?
That sleeping child you're holding is the great I AM.
G. K. Chesterton wrote that “the believers in miracles accept them (rightly
or wrongly) because they have evidence for them. The disbelievers in miracles
deny them (rightly or wrongly) because they have a doctrine against them.”
As we celebrate Christmas–and the miracle of God becoming
incarnate–Christians around the globe accept this
