Allyson is a 2016 graduate, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education (PreK-3). Allyson is now a 2nd grade teacher at the International School of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and loving every minute of it!  Allyson completed her student teaching at IST as part of our new Student Teaching Abroad program. IST is a private Christian school in the capitol city.  Allyson lives with other teachers and spends many of her weekends going on exciting trips in the rainforests, waterfalls, and to the beach as well as all the normal things like shopping and going to the movies and, of course, working on her lesson plans and grading! During summer break, Dr. Valerie Jones, Teacher Education Chair and Dr. Jeanne Bruce, Associate Professor, traveled with five pre-service educators to Helsinki, Finland, and Stockholm, Sweden to study the top-two school systems in the world. The group was able to tour a Finnish grade school to observe their curriculum and instruction and speak with the students and teachers. Ohio Christian University students had the opportunity to go on a mission trip this year to Paraguay as one of OCU’s WGM Task Force Teams. Andrea Williamson, Student Involvement Director for WGM, led the team and stayed with them through the duration of the trip. “I knew right away that this was the team God planned for me to lead. The panel included 6 former students from diverse backgrounds, each with experience in their field. Students had the opportunity inquire of their past experiences and opinions of OCU. Valerie Jones says she never expected to be in an administrative role as an educator, but is looking ahead to the future in hopes she can continue making a positive impact on students' lives. The former Southeastern High School teacher now serves as department chair of the teacher education program at Ohio Christian University, where she has been employed since last July, and has been instrumental in improving the department as a whole. Jones, who is working on her doctorate degree at Marshall University, resides on a farm just outside of Chillicothe with her husband. Jones said it
