

On March 31st the School of Business and Government hosted Dr. Jay Richards and Dr. Anne Bradley as a part of the Distinguished Speaker Series.Dr. Anne Rathbone Bradley is the Vice President of Economic Initiatives at the Institute, where she develops and commissions research toward a systematic biblical theology of economic freedom. She is a visiting professor at Georgetown University, and also teaches at The Institute for World Politics and George Mason University. She is an editor of and contributing author to IFWE’s recently released book, For the Least of These: A Biblical Answer to Poverty. In her chapter, Dr. Rathbone Bradley examines income inequality from both an economic and biblical perspective and provides guidance to Christians on how to respond, particularly through our vocations. Dr. Rathbone Bradley received her Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University in 2006, during which time she was a James M. Buchanan Scholar.Dr. Jay Richards, who has been a guest on the Faith & Liberty Talk Show twice now, is an Assistant Research Professor in the School of Business and Economics at The Catholic University of America, a Senior Fellow at the Discovery Institute, and executive editor of The Stream. He is author of many books including the New York Times bestsellers Infiltrated (2013), and Indivisible (2012), co-authored with James Robison. He is also the author of Money, Greed, and God, winner of a 2010 Templeton Enterprise Award; and co-author of The Privileged Planet with astronomer Guillermo Gonzalez. His most recent book, co-authored with Jonathan Witt, is The Hobbit Party: The Vision of Freedom that J.R.R. Tolkien Got and the West Forgot. He has a Ph.D., with honors, in philosophy and theology from Princeton Theological Seminary.The Distinguished Speakers Series Event began at 10:45 AM and both Anne & Jay were given 25-30 minutes to speak to the School of Business & Government students, followed by a panel discussion led by Dean Garrison. Students had the opportunity to engage in the discussion as well. After the session, there was a luncheon for Anne & Jay including selected business & government students who are members of OCU’s Sigma Beta Delta chapter. Sigma Beta Delta is an international honor’s society for business students.

2019 Business Competition Gives Students Real World Experience

On April 9th, Ohio Christian University’s School of Business and Government
hosted the annual awards banquet for its Business Plan Competition. Five
finalists in the competition were awarded recognition as well as cash awards
for their business plans. This annual competition gives Business students a
chance to put into practice what they are being taught in classrooms. Its
purpose is to give students a real-world opportunity to develop a business
plan and present it to a panel of distinguished businesspersons.

On Friday, March 8th, State Representative Rick Carfagna (Chair, Finance
Subcommittee on Higher Education) visited Ohio Christian University (OCU). He
was welcomed to the president’s office by Dr. Jon Kulaga (President), Ted
Perry (Chief Financial Officer) and Craig Brown (Chief Relationship
Officer) where the group discussed multiple partnerships related to
micro-credentialing, entrepreneurship and workforce development for regional
incumbent industry.

Anthony R. Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a conservative
policy and lobbying organization based in Washington, D.C., gave the message
at Ohio Christian University’s Chapel Service on Monday, October 22.

Secretary of State Jon A. Husted met with Ohio Christian University (OCU),
Circleville, and Pickaway County officials at the Robert W. Plaster Free
Enterprise Center to discuss Attorney General Mike DeWine’s and his “Ohio
Prosperity Plan” that they will implement if elected Ohio Governor and Lt.
Governor.
The Plan provides for training to give Ohioans 21st-century technology job
skills through funding completion of 10,000 training certificates for skills
such as basic computer software coding and data analytics. Short courses will
cost around $600 each, offered by the likes of the
