CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The Ohio Christian University Lady Trailblazers hosted rival Asbury University on Saturday afternoon, playing the squad's third River States Conference match of the 2020 season. After a slow start, the Eagles poured in four goals in the final 45 minutes to take the win.
Both teams traded solid looks to score in the first half, however both goalies kept their squads in good shape with solid saves. Seven minutes into the second half, Asbury's Elizabeth Sparks put in the go ahead goal for the Eagles, which proved to be the game winner.
Eight minutes later, a foul by Ohio Christian in the box set up Asbury for a 2-0 lead following a penalty kick score by Genevieve Hill. The Eagles then tacked on two additional goals late for the 4-0 win.
As a squad, the Lady Trailblazers finished with four shots on goal, split evenly between Emmie Brenly (FR/Coshocton, OH) and Darian Wolfinbarger (SO/Lebanon, OH). Maddie Ross (SO/Grove City, OH) and Kennedy Edwards (SO/Grove City, OH) also ended the match with a shot a piece.
Following the loss, Ohio Christian will rebound for a makeup date with Point Park University on Monday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
