Follow Christ, Lead the Way
Developing Young Christian Leaders image
Last July OCU once again partnered with Live God Loud Ministries to host the third annual LifeTraks School of Leadership, which trains Christian leaders with a biblical worldview. Thirty-one young people came to OCU to develop their personal leadership skills under the direction of staff leaders including Mr. Tony McCrary, Dr. Rick Christman, and Live God Loud Ministries LifeTraks Director of Operations Rev. Dan Coy. Students had opportunities to develop their professional skills through various work study projects, team building activities, community service, and area business visits. Third year students completed three-week practicums at various ministries in Ohio and Florida.Evenings were filled with rehearsals for the drama tour, which included stops in Virginia and Pennsylvania. The final week of the program was spent at Appalachian Youth Camp, where students practiced the leadership techniques learned during their LifeTraks training. Camp concluded with the LifeTraks Commisioning Service of the eight students who completed the three-year program.Tony McCrary states, “It was an honor to shake each student’s hand and place the LifeTraks rings on their fingers, signifying not only the completion of the program but also a life committed to God and His kingdom first and foremost. I am so proud of these students.”Each participant testified that the experience was life changing. What an incredible month! The leadership challenge was significant, and the students’ acceptance of that challenge was evident. LifeTraks School of Leadership is developing leaders. To learn more about LifeTraks, visit www.ohiochristian.edu/lifetraks or contact Tony McCrary at tmccrary@ohiochristian.edu

At the end of May, a team from Ohio Christian University traveled to Uganda to serve alongside World Gospel Mission missionaries already working in the area. This trip would best be described as a vision trip rather than the typical mission work some may think of. The team got to see many different ministries the missionaries are working with as well as support them through fellowship and prayer. During the two weeks the team was abroad, they worked with a wide range of ministries, one of which is known as the Dignity project, providing women and girls with reusable feminine products

Gerald Murphy (’13) had one goal in mind for the campus of Ohio Christian University as he spoke during Fall 2019 Revival Week, and that was to have an encounter with Christ. Murphy, a graduate of Ohio Christian, encouraged students to let go of their former selves and take on their new identity as sons and daughters of God. In order to take on this new identity, Murphy said that one must first stop self-identifying as a sinner saved by grace. “If you continue to call yourself a sinner,” he said, “you’re going to keep acting like one.” Next, one must stop relying on their own actions

Choosing to spend his summer with Service Over Self (SOS) in Memphis, Tyler, along with 40 other young adults, spread the Good News to middle and high school students and learned to be an SOS team leader.
